* If you feel unwell, please ask for a face mask from IT&CMA and CTW staff at the Registration Counters, Level 22, Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld. Situation in Thailand • Although H1N1 has spread in Thailand over the past months, the severity of infection is mostly moderate, with most patients (95%) developing only mild symptoms, and recovering within 5–7 days without any need for hospitalisation. • Only about 5% of patients develop more symptoms. Symptoms are similar to those of seasonal influenza, including fever, headaches, body aches, fatigue, coughing, sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose, and loss of appetite. • WHO experts advise that H1N1 is a cause for concern, not panic, and has made no recommendations restricting travel. There are no border closures. • Delegates are therefore advised to use common-sense measures to protect themselves and reduce the risk of infection. |
